Treating employees with repetitive motion injuries, talk through several cases, and how treatment progressed with acupuncture

Presented by: Brent Dauphin

Brent Dauphin, L.Ac., MTCM License #AC12647 has worked in occupational medicine since 2008.  Brent Dauphin is a California Board licensed acupuncturist.  He received his Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University where he completed over 3,200 hours of comprehensive clinical and theoretical training. During his third year at Five Branches, Brent traveled to Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. There he studied acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in the major hospitals of the area.  Brent also holds an undergraduate degree from the University of California at San Diego.

Brent specializes in pain management and holds advanced acupuncture certification in sports medicine & musculoskeletal conditions.  He tailors his treatments to address each type of condition ranging from acute, repetitive and chronic types of injury.  In addition to acupuncture, Brent has obtained certification and advanced training in Tuina (a form of Chinese massage used in conjunction with acupuncture for treating pain).

Hotel Housekeeping Ergonomics: A Case Study and Current Issues

Presented by: Dave K. Smith

A Hotel Inn in the beautiful California Wine Country experienced high worker’s compensation costs, regulatory scrutiny, and concern about the large number of injuries to the housekeeping staff. This presentation will review the methods and results of a project to control the frequency and severity of injuries. 

The California Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board (Cal/OSHA Standards Board) is actively considering a petition for a Cal OSHA Standard on Hotel Housekeeping Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention. The public hearing is set for May 18, 2017.

The vendor is Lance Rocha from Prestige International who is a distributor to Luxo lighting and many other products.

Vertical Mouse showdown: The Pro's and Con's of the top selling vertical/alternative mice on the market today.

Have you ever sought to find that "perfect" mouse solution for a client only to discover that it actually made the problem worse or didn't help the problem at all?

This presentation will provide the results of two Quantitative Usability research studies on four of the most popular vertical mice sold on the market today.  Other alternative mice options willl also be discussed.

This presentation will provide the Ergonomist with quantitative and qualitative data results to accurately fit and help mitigate common upper extremity problems caused by ill fitting mice.
